  1. Q. What is the first step to obtaining a Gloria Jean's Sub-Franchise?
    A. To begin the process you must first completely fill up and submit the Gloria Jean’s Sub-Franchise Application. If you qualify, we will invite you to a Gloria Jean's Sub-Franchise Business Meeting at our headquarters. The minimum financial requirements for consideration as a sub-franchisee for a full sized store are 1)Net Worth of at least Five Million Pesos (PhP5,000,000) and 2) Liquidity (cash or cash equivalents) of at least Two Million and Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (PhP2,500,000). For a kiosk the minimum financial requirements for consideration are half of these amounts.
  2. Q. What kind of Sub-Franchise programs are available?
    A. Currently Specialty Beans Philippines, Inc. is only offering a single unit Sub-Franchise Program for one location to be identified and pre-approved prior to the execution of a Sub-Franchise Agreement. If a Sub-Franchisee wished to open and operate more than on store a separate Sub-Franchise agreement would need to be executed for each store.
  3. Q. How much is the Sub-Franchise Fee?
    A.
    The current Sub-Franchise Fee for a full sized store at this time is One Million Three Hundred Seventy Five Thousand Pesos (P1,375,000.00), for a Kiosk is One Million One Hundred Thousand Pesos (P1,100,000.00) and for a Cart is Eight Hundred Eighty Thousand Pesos (P880,000.00). The Sub-Franchise Fee is due upon the execution of the Sub-Franchise agreement and is fully earned and non-refundable upon such execution.
  4. Q. How much is the Monthly Royalty Fee?
    A.
    The current monthly royalty fee is Eight Percent (%8.0) of gross sales.
  5. Q. What is the Monthly Advertising Contribution?
    A.
    Each Sub-Franchisee is required to contribute Three Percent (%3.0) of gross sales each month to an Advertising and Promotion Program which is managed by Specialty Beans Philippines, Inc. The Sub-Franchisees contributions will be used in full to develop Advertising and Promotional programs for both national and local area marketing.
  6. Q. What is the total investment for a Gloria Jean's Sub-Franchise?
    A.
    Investment costs will vary depending on the location, the size of the store and several other factors. We can help you develop a relevant estimate for your particular store once a location is identified.
  7. Q. Must I own the property where the Sub-Franchise store is located?
    A.
    While owning a suitable property is definitely an advantage it is not mandatory.
  8. Q. Do you offer financing?
    A.
    We do not offer financing and we do not provide Sub-Franchisees with assistance relating to financing.
  9. Q. What kind of experience is required?
    A.
    Ideally, a Sub-Franchisee should have experience operating retail stores, full-service restaurants, or comparable service oriented businesses. Knowledge of the trade area and local contacts where the store is to be located is also important to facilitate the construction and operation of the store.
  10. Q. What is the process for obtaining approval for a location?
    A.
    Identification and pre-approval of an acceptable location is a prerequisite to the execution of a Sub-Franchise Agreement. If the property is a leased property the lease contract must also be approved. Failure to acquire the approved location will be grounds for termination of the Sub-Franchise Agreement unless Specialty Beans Philippines, Inc. grants approval for an alternative location. Specialty Beans Philippines, Inc. at its sole discretion may reject any location without justification to Sub-Franchisee.
  11. Q. What size specifications are required for a Gloria Jean's Coffee location?
    A.
    The Gloria Jean's concept can operate effectively in a wide range of space configurations. As a general rule, we recommend developing stores in the range of 50 to 150 square meters and kiosks in the range of 20 to 50 square meters.
  12. Q. Where do I purchase my equipment package, smallwares, signage, menu boards, etc.?
    A.
    Specialty Beans Philippines, Inc. will provide an Approved Vendor List for securing all of the required items and will assist Sub-Franchisee as necessary with the coordination of the ordering and installation of these items.
  13. Q. How long does my Sub-Franchise last?
    A.
    Typically, the Sub-Franchise term will match the term of your lease or sub-lease for the location, but in any event will not exceed five (5) years.
  14. Q. What kind of training does Gloria Jean's provide?
    A.
    Sub-Franchisees and their designated managers must attend and successfully complete Gloria Jean's unique training program where product preparation, operations and coffee knowledge will be covered. There is no fee for training at this time, but Sub-Franchisees must pay their own costs of salaries, transportation, lodging and meals.
  15. Q. What form of continuing operational support will I receive?
    A.
    In addition to an operations manual and other materials, you will receive periodic visits by our Franchise Operations
    Representatives who will offer useful advice on various aspects of your business.
  16. Q. Do I receive guidance on the purchase of coffee, foods and supplies?
    A.
    Yes. Specialty Beans Philippines, Inc. has established, and will provide appropriate product specifications and a list of approved suppliers. Specialty Beans Philippines, Inc. is the sole source for coffee and certain proprietary products.
  17. Q. How soon can I be in operation once I have become a Sub-Franchisee?
    A.
    Generally, unless otherwise agreed upon and stipulated in the Sub-Franchise Agreement a Sub-Franchisee will have a maximum one-hundred and twenty days (120) from the execution of the Sub-Franchise agreement to open and begin operating the store. Failure to open and operate the store within the prescribed time frame may result in termination of the Sub-Franchise Agreement.
